Meet the Team

Ms. Fiess - Gifted & Talented Counselor

Hello! I am Lisa Fiess and I joined the Jefferson County Giftet and Talented Department seven years ago as a GT social emotional learning counselor, with the goal of supporting the affective needs of our gifted learners. I currently split my time between three GT Center programs: Ken Caryl MS, Kyffin ES, and Kendrick Lakes ES, where I proactively counsel students and am a resource for staff and parents. I will be at KCMS on Tuesdays and Fridays during the 2021-2022 school year. I am excited to be a part of the KCMS counseling team and look forward to supporting out giftet students through their middle school years. When I am not at one of my three schools, you can find me hiking in the mountains or on the sidelines at a sporting event for two kids of my own.

Ms. Terrell - 6th Grade Counselor

Hello! I am the 7th grade counselor and I could not be happier to be working at KCMS! I came from an online school where I worked with high school students and so far middle school has been a wild and welcomed change. I have been a school counselor for eleven years now and I believe strongly in the work that I do to help raise and support my students to reach their highest selves. At home I stay busy with two children of my own and three pets; never a dull moment. For fun I love to swim, sing, cook, garden, read, and anything that puts me near the ocean! Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime should questions or concerns arise. I very much look forward to working with you and your student this year.

Ms. Van Hook - 7th Grade Counselor

Hi Spartans! My name is Olivia Van Hook and I am the 8th grade counselor. Before entering the counseling world, I earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education at Kansas State University, and then came back to my home state to pursue my master's degree in school counseling from the University of Colorado Denver. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time in the mountains, traveling to visit friends, and playing recreational sports. I am always looking to learn something new whether that is a new skills, a new fact, or a new perspective. I am thrilled to be a part of the KCMS team and I look forward to supporting students academically and socially through middle school.

Ms. Williams - Social Worker & Special Education Counselor

Hello! My name is Stephanie Williams, and I am so excited to be joining the KCMS team this year as the school social worker and special education counselors. My professional background includes working as a Milieu Counselor with at-risk youth and a school social worker with elementary students. I have a passion for working with children and am looking forward to being a support and advocate for the students at KCMS. To create meaningful change and to provide social-emotional support, I use a handful of evidence-based curriculums that focus on putting the student first, using positive reinforcement and identifying strengths for independent problem-solving skills.

Personally, I am newly married and enjoy being the best cat mom I can be. I also enjoy yoga, gardening, cooking, weekend adventures around Colorado with my husband and friends, crafts, and connecting with others.
