Why Should You Attend Ken Caryl Middle School?

Ken Caryl Middle is a comprehensive middle school that is the exclusive middle school feeder to Columbine High School. We currently serve about seven hundred and thirty 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. We have developed not only a strong partnership with Columbine High School with our academic programming, but also have developed strong academic partnerships with Columbine Hills, Governor’s Ranch, Leawood, Dutch Creek, and Normandy Elementary schools. It is the goal of the articulation area to support your students through their preK-12 journey as a student in our community.

At Ken Caryl we believe that your middle school should be a place where students feel safe, valued, supported, and are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally. Ken Caryl is a place where you will be encouraged to be a risk taker, persevere through challenges, and invest in yourself and our community. The teachers and staff at KCMS are committed to high quality instruction and academic experiences for all students. Our staff is connected to the greater community and strive to develop relationships with students as students and community members. 

We offer not only rigorous academics but also opportunities for sports and leisure through our middle school sports program, thriving band and orchestra classes, drama and theater classes that have high quality performances, and rotating clubs and activities to engage students in passions and interests. Our goal is to create opportunities for our students to engage in curriculum to prepare them for high school and beyond and also to support student exploration with passions and interests.
