School Accountability Committee

What Does the SAC Do?

The School Accountability Committee (SAC) is a group of parents, teachers, and community members who work with the principal to help the school run well and keep improving.

Here's what the SAC actually does:

  • Helps guide the school improvement plan. The SAC reviews school data and gives input on the goals and strategies in the school's official improvement plan, meeting regularly to check whether things are working.
  • Weighs in on the budget. The SAC reviews how the school plans to spend its money and shares recommendations with the principal before decisions are finalized.
  • Champions family involvement. The SAC helps spread the word about ways parents can get involved, recruits new members, and supports family engagement efforts.

The SAC gives parents and community members a seat at the table when it comes to how the school spends money, sets goals, and supports students.
