Ms. Hurt - Principal

Welcome to KCMS! We are so excited to have you join our Ken Caryl Family and for trusting us to educate your most valuable treasures!

My name is Christie Hurt and this is my 5th year as the school principal. Prior to becoming principal, I served as the assistant principal here for four years. I came to Jefferson County from Denver Public Schools where I was an assistant principal for six years at the elementary level and taught special education at the middle school level. I have loved my time at KCMS! We have an amazing school, kids, families and all-around community! I look forward to our continued work together to make this school the very best!

A little bit about myself…I’m originally from North Dakota and moved to Colorado after I graduated from college. I have my undergraduate degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in special education. I have a wonderful husband, three beautiful kids and one dog that keep me busy in my free time. Along with chasing after my family, I enjoy being outdoors and being a “sports” mom.

I’m looking forward to the school year and watching your children grow into young adults!

We hope you have a great year!

Ms. Gagnon - Assistant Principal

First and foremost, I would like to welcome you to the Spartan Family! This is my fifth year at KCMS serving as an assistant principal. I came from Douglas County School District where I was a high school social studies teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal. I am excited to get to know each of you and work with the Jeffco community to develop some of the best students in the country.

I am a Colorado native and never plan to leave this great state. When I am not busy with work I love to go camping, boating and hiking. These activities are even more fun with my wonderful husband, two kids and dogs. When I do leave Colorado, it is to travel to different places around the world learning about other cultures and trying exotic foods. I earned my bachelor's degree in Social Science Education from the University of Northern Colorado and my master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Phoenix.

I hope this is a great school year and please know my door is always open!

Ms. Roberts - Assistant Principal

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am personally ready for an amazing year.

I am so excited for my second year as a member of the Ken Caryl Spartan family. I could not be happier to be at a school with such a long history of excellence. I enjoy working with middle students whom I know to be curiously engaged in their school. I bring my experience in the classroom and administration to help and support students, teachers and staff to create a stronger school and community. I believe in teaching students that we are a community of learners and that we need to take care of one another. I believe that all students can be successful and have areas that they are strong and areas to develop.

I am a Colorado native, attended Jefferson County Schools from kindergarten through graduation, and graduated from CSU in Family and Consumer Science. Following graduation, I spent 11 years in Douglas County as a FACS teacher and school administrator at the high school level. The last seven years in administration have fulfilled a desire to serve families, students, and community in ways I could not in the classroom. I have always felt my heart belonged to Jefferson County and I love being back home.

I hope to get to know each and every one of you!
