Attendance

Good attendance is a requirement at Ken Caryl. This includes being on time at the start of the school day and to every class. Please call the attendance line by 10 a.m. to report a student's absence.

Attendance line: 303-982-4650

Early Release

To report a student’s early release, parents or guardians must:

  • Call the attendance line when they are near the school to pick up their student

or

  • Leave a message on the attendance line first thing in the morning

This process helps ensure the student is in the office waiting for their parent or guardian. Otherwise, parents or guardians should allow plenty of time after arriving at the school for the student to be called to the office.

Leaving During the School Day

Parents or guardians must:

  • Come into the school to sign out their student during the school day
  • Show a photo ID

Full-Day Absence

To report a student’s absence from school for a full day, parents or guardians must:

  1. Call the attendance line — this should be done first
  2. State the student’s name
  3. Provide the reason for the absence

Pre-arranged Absences

If a student will be absent for more than five consecutive days, families must complete the Pre-Arranged Absence Form. The form must be signed by parents, students and all teachers, with homework assignments, and brought to the office, emailed or faxed.

Tardies or Absent

When a student is marked tardy or absent by a teacher, their parent or guardian will need to contact that teacher for an explanation or correction. Contact information for all teachers is listed in the school directory.

Emergency Contact Information

Parents and guardians must keep a student’s emergency contact information updated in Infinite Campus.

Attendance in Jeffco

The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.

It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
