Ms. Speaks - 7th Grade Counselor

My name is Krista Speaks and I will be the 7th grade counselor this year.  I grew up in Oregon, went to high school and college in Kansas, taught in California and then moved to Colorado.  My favorite thing to do is laugh and spend time with friends and family.  I have one baby and her name is Lulu.  She’s sweet, furry, loves walks and loves to snuggle.  I challenge you to show me a cuter dog! I can’t wait to get to know all of you and help you with absolutely anything. My goal is that you are happy and feel success as you adventure through your 7th grade year.  You are going to LOVE our KCMS Family.

Ms. Schneider - 8th Grade Counselor

Hi, I am Shannon Schneider and I am the 8th grade counselor for the 2017/2018 school year.  This is my 4th year at Ken Caryl Middle School and I am excited for the start of another amazing year.  My family is from Hawaii and I lived on Oahu when I was younger.  I love Colorado and enjoy being outside; I like to ski, hike and spend time in the mountains.  When I am not working I am usually found spending time with my husband and 2 teenage children, reading a great book, cooking or I am at the gym.  I look forward to being a cheerleader for all of the amazing students here at Ken Caryl Middle School; what a great place KCMS is!

Ms. Giglia - Social Worker & 6th-8th GT/SPED Counselor

Hi! I'm Carly Giglia and I am the Social Worker for the 2017/2018 school year. I'm brand new to Ken Caryl and to Colorado as well! I moved here in July from New York City, where I was born and raised. So far I've spent most of my time in Colorado taking in as much nature as possible. I love spending time in the mountains and am truly excited to continue to explore Colorado. In my free time you'll find me hanging out with my dog, Roxy, knitting or taking a yoga class. I'm SO excited to be here at Ken Caryl and truly look forward to meeting all the awesome students here.

Ms. Fiess - GT Counselor

Hello!  I am Lisa Fiess and I joined the Jefferson County Gifted and Talented Department 4 years ago, in a newly created position as a GT Counselor, with the goal of supporting the social and emotional needs of our gifted learners.  I currently split my time between four schools:  Ken Caryl MS, Kyffin ES, Kendrick Lakes ES and Parmalee ES, where I proactively counsel students and am a resource for staff and parents.  I love Ken Caryl Middle School and am excited for this school year!  When I am not at one of my four schools, you can find me hiking in the mountains with my husband or on the sidelines at a sporting event for two KCMS kids of my own.
