Ms. Hurt - Principal

Welcome to KCMS! We are so excited to have you join our Ken Caryl Family and for trusting us to educate your most valuable treasures!

My name is Christie Hurt and this is my 2nd year as the school principal. Prior to becoming principal, I served as the assistant principal here for four years. I came to Jefferson County from Denver Public Schools where I was an assistant principal for six years at the elementary level and taught special education at the middle school level. I have loved my time at KCMS! We have an amazing school, kids, families and all-around community! I look forward to our continued work together to make this school the very best!

A little bit about myself…I’m originally from North Dakota and moved to Colorado after I graduated from college. I have my undergraduate degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in special education. I have a wonderful husband, three beautiful kids and one dog that keep me busy in my free time. Along with chasing after my family, I enjoy being outdoors and being a “sports” mom.

I’m looking forward to the school year and watching your children grow into young adults!

We hope you have a great year!

Mr. DiDonato - Assistant Principal

My name is Rick DiDonato and I am extremely honored to serve the staff and community here at KCMS! This will be my second year at KCMS as an assistant principal. I come to you from Brighton School District 27J where I served as an elementary assistant principal. I also have 9 years experience as an assistant principal at the middle school level right here in Jeffco and Douglas County previous to my experience in Brighton. I can’t wait to get our kids ready for high school and beyond in addition to help make KCMS the best in the district and the state!

I am a Colorado native and a Jefferson County Schools alumni, graduating from Golden High School in 1987. I attended Fort Lewis College in beautiful Durango, Colorado where I obtained my BA in Elementary Education. I earned my MA in education and supervision from the University of Phoenix in 1999. I absolutely love the outdoors, and have my entire life, where I spend time camping, fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles with my two incredible son’s. My boys are students at Bear Creek High School as a sophomore and senior for the upcoming school year.

I believe that Jefferson County Schools are the best in the state and look forward to being a part of this incredible district for many years to come. I am looking forward to a great year and watching all of our kids grow into young adults! Please also know that my door is always open-

Ms. Gagnon - Assistant Principal

My name is Sarah Gagnon and I would like to welcome you to the Spartan Family! This is my second year at KCMS serving as an assistant principal. I came from Douglas County School District where I was a high school social studies teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal. I am excited to get to know each of you and work with the Jeffco community to develop some of the best students in the country.

I am a Colorado native and never plan to leave this great state. When I am not busy with work I love to go camping, boating and hiking. These activities are even more fun with my wonderful husband, 2 kids and dog. When I do leave Colorado, it is to travel to different places around the world learning about other cultures and trying exotic foods. I earned my bachelor's degree in Social Science Education from the University of Northern Colorado and my master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Phoenix.

I hope this is a great school year and please know my door is always open!
